I love exploring London. You can always find someting new-a museum, a cafe, a shop, an exhibition...
Today I went to the Geffrye Museum, which focuses on homes and gardens of the middle classes.
The museum is set in elegant 18th century almshouses with a contemporary wing surrounded by attractive gardens, which include an award-winning walled herb garden and a series of period gardens.

The Geffrye is located in Shoreditch just minutes from the City of London.
The admission is free.
The museum buildings were once almhouses, providing homes for elderly poor.
Between the aristocracy and the manual workers there emerged a "midldling sort".

The garden reading rooms
This young mother is depicted as an Victorian Ideal-sourrounded by her well behaved children, she is usefully employedin the economical task of knitting socks.
At the end we coudn't resist to home baked scones and delicious coffee in a nice restaurant, overlooking the period gardens.
Unfortunately, we coudn't attend the herb and period garden rooms, as they are open from April to 31 October.
Hugs
Liana
